After taking down all the Christmas decor, I wanted to warm things up a bit and keep the house feeling cozy. I love red and no matter how hard I try to go lighter red seems to come back in some form. I had this pretty wrapping paper and I was saving it for something other than wrapping. I took some old books and covered them old school style to add some color to the living room coffee table.
Here’s how to cover your books. Lay the book open on the paper and cut the width a few inches wider on both sides. Crease the paper by pushing it against the book. Then remove the book and fold both sides on the crease to the middle. Lay your book down again, now open the book and give yourself a few more inches on the length, this should be a little more since you have to account for closing the book. Once cut, fold the first side and slide your book into the end. Do the same on the other side being careful when you close the book.
Covering books brings back sweet memories for me. When my nieces were little and I had no children yet they would bring their books to my mom’s house for me to cover! Aunt Sue took care of the girls! Now I’m covering books for my own kiddos!
You can cover books with fabric or any type of paper. See how my friend Yvonne covered books in burlap! Later this week I’ll share the coffee table and winter living room! Thank you for coming by!!

Love the way that those look Susan! Another thing that I do is to paint them, of course using yard sale type of books and no literary masterpieces ;-)

Thanks for the idea Janet, I never thought of that one!
I love this idea. Recently my girl had a new book that she wanted to read, but was afraid of ruining the cover, so we used some wrapping paper to cover it. She was so impressed with how it turned out.
Thanks Mary!! Hope you are well!
