I want to share my Tips and Tricks to Stay Organized with you! There are a few really simple things that I do on a regular basis to stay organized. You all know that caring for a family, household, working a job and all the other things we are at least in part responsible for takes a lot of planning and being organized. For me, part of being organized is also having the house somewhat orderly. Otherwise, I feel like it’s total chaos.
Truly my calendar *is a life saver but that’s kind of a given because I’d have no idea what was going on if I didn’t write it down!
I make my beds every day, do a quick run through, pick up clothes, empty garbages, tidy bathrooms and empty & reload the dishwasher if necessary. I vacuum the hall, kitchen and family room just about every day. The kitchen counters and appliances get a quick go over and that’s it most days. This takes me maybe 30 minutes max. I throw a load of laundry in, put a few clothes away, have breakfast and get dressed for the day. I’ m ready to roll by 9 or so. I’m home so obviously this is much easier than if I was working away from the house everyday. When I was working I did my morning run through before I took the kids to school because I just felt better coming home when the house wasn’t totaled. I just did it earlier.
I write a list *for each day. What I need to pick up, errands that need to be run, appointments, blog posts, chores, etc. If I have to tackle it, it’s on the list.
I always keep a few extra bags in the car door pocket. There is always something to throw away so I find it keeps the car a bit cleaner. Then I can just toss the bag when it gets full. I try to take my returnables and newspaper (our school gets money for paper recycling so I take it there) at least once a week so they don’t pile up in the garage or my car. I have three active kids so I spend quite a bit of time in my car and it’s much nicer when it’s not a mess. I keep baby wipes for dirty hands and a quick wipe down when needed. I keep a few water bottles and I try to have a few snacks just in case someone is hungry or we get stuck, it’s Winter in Buffalo.
I make piles of clean clothes and the family is responsible to put their own pile away. Sometimes the whole family heads up together and we get it all done at once, otherwise I find we live out of the baskets.
I have a bucket with a few key cleaning supplies like paper towels, Windex, sponge, soft scrub, etc. that I can easily carry from room to room when needed.
I try really hard to plan out at least a few meals* (if not the whole week) before I shop. It not only saves me money because I’m not scattered all over the store but then I have a plan and don’t have to stress over what I’m making. I write down exactly what I’m making that week and then I can go to my list and decide what gets made on what night!
I realize you all probably have your own routines but I hope maybe something here is helpful to you. If you have a tip that you’d like to share I would LOVE to hear them Linking to
