My Spring cleaning continued…Ever try cleaning cloudy marble? We have a marble top vanity in our 1/2 bath. It’s been there over 8 years and I’ve tried countless things to restore the marble’s original shine. In hindsight, it’s not a practical surface for a bathroom that gets used a lot but I liked the vanity at the time and the top came with it. The water and just about every cleaner gives it a cloudy film. It only looks good when it’s wet. Once it’s dry, it looks terrible. Since I’m painting the bath a lighter, fresher color I wanted to make the whole room look fresh. The vanity top always looks dull despite it being clean. I went online and tried to find some information about cleaning, shining, etc. There were several methods but I’m a quick fix kind of girl so sanding and polishing didn’t appeal to me. I read some comments and someone had good results with WD-40. I figured… why not??? I’ve tried everything else! I used it on a small corner and it worked. Yay! Finally my counter will be clean and shiny! I know it sounds a little strange but it worked! Be sure to test it in a small spot before you go putting on the whole thing. I sprayed the WD-40 on a soft cloth and then shined the countertop. As side note there was information about different types of marble. I have no idea what kind mine is. I have a hunch it’s not the expensive kind so just be sure to test it out first, you don’t want to ruin your marble. Mine was bad so I was thinking I couldn’t make it any worse! **It did a good job making it shiny but it didn’t remove the water marks, etc.
Not only did I shine up the sink I tried my BKF on my stainless steel appliances! Well It didn’t disappoint! My little one taped a picture to the refrigerator awhile back and despite my efforts I couldn’t get the sticky stuff off that the tape left behind. You guessed, BKF got it off and made the whole thing shine! Even the ice and water dispenser came out beautifully. I tried to scrub the silver plate on the bottom of the dispenser many times and NOTHING got out the hard water stains until now! I feel like I should be the poster girl for Bar Keepers Friend!
