Today I have an easy and simple strawberry sauce. We almost always have vanilla ice cream in the refrigerator. It’s a nice treat in the evening. Sometimes we have all the fixings and sometimes it’s simply chocolate syrup and a bit of whip cream, if you’re lucky. I got to thinking about how much I love the strawberry jam I made earlier this summer. Why not turn it into a beautiful sauce for ice cream or floats. It could easily be used on pancakes or drizzled over angel food cake. I made just enough for a few scoops of ice cream but adapt it for your needs. Beware this is SO good!
Put three heaping teaspoons of jam into a small saucepot on low heat. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon (or less depending on how much you like lemon), stir, once the jam is more like a syrup consistency take off the heat and add a dash of real vanilla. I’m telling you this sauce is divine and beautiful. Need the recipe for the strawberry jam? You can find it here. I buy this vanilla, it’s by far my favorite.
What would you put it on?
