Half Marathon Training Progress

A couple weeks ago I shared that I’m training for a half marathon in May.

I want to thank everyone who sent me encouraging messages it means a lot to me.

With the race being over five months away I decided to keep my Sunday runs to 5-6 miles for the next couple months. It is my hope that I’ll be able to run 5-6 miles without any walking at the end of the next 6-8 weeks. Right now I have no time goals in mind just to finish. Depending on how I am doing when the race gets closer I may set a time goal but for now I’m going to leave it at that.

I run or walk 6 days a week, having Saturdays off.

Weekdays are 30 minutes. Three days I walk 30 and two I do to the walk/run. Currently, I walk 1 minute run 4 minutes for a total of 30 minutes.

6 Weeks

33 days – Days missed 3

15 Days- 30 minute walk

18 Days- 30 minute walk/run (1 minute walk 4 run)

Approx. total miles 75

My thoughts.

All in all I’m feeling pretty good. I have to admit some days I wake up and think why in the world do you think you can do this? Then I have to talk myself into it all over again. It’s a process. I am surprised that I’m enjoying it as much as I am and that I’ve stuck with it.

I wonder why we are so quick to quit on ourselves and things we set out to do? I feel this deep desire to finish this, to do it. Not for you or to brag about it but for me to prove I can and how strong I am to myself. I think for a lot of years I have put a lot of other things before myself and I’m ok with that. My family has been a huge part of my story the last 20 years but now as they get older I feel like I can do some things for myself again.

Anyone else have an  Apple Watch on their wishlist?  I’m hoping to get one before the Spring!

The Brooks sneakers I bought are really great, the Lulu leggings and jacket are my go to. You can click on the photos for the details for each item. Beanie is a must when running outside this time of year.

Did you know there were special “running” leggings? I was super excited to find that they hold water, lip balm and anything else small I might need to keep on me!! I had no idea and I’m so happy because I can’t run without my lip balm and Ningxia Nitro. I am looking forward to the warmer weather and running outside more often.

The book in the sidebar is the one I’m reading for training help (just in case you were wondering).
