I’m so excited to share this project with you! Such a quick way to turn an ordinary basket into something a little more special. These would great to add storage with a little extra flair and you can totally customize your colors to fit your style!
I went with an off white to keep with my love of neutrals right now. Here’s how I did it!
A couple baskets (or one)
Spray paint in your color choice.
Drop cloth of some sort.
If you want to add the twine dyed handles you’ll need:
Twine and a container
Decide how much of the basket you want painted and make a line with your painter’s tape. If you have a narrow tape I’d make a couple lines so you have some room to protect from spray over. I even covered the top of mine with part of my drop cloth.
Give the basket an even coat or two of paint depending on the look you are going for.
Take off tape and let dry.
For the handles. Add dye to water until you are happy with the color. I was going for Navy blue. Let soak for a few minutes. I left mine for about 10 and then let dry. I put mine out in the sun and it dried super fast.

Wrap twine around handles and hot glue the ends in place.
Super easy and so pretty, don’t you think?
Michael’s had the baskets buy one, get one free. I had the twine and paint on hand. The dye was $2.49 and I used a coupon. The total cost for this project was under $20. I love that the baskets nest when they aren’t in use!
Thank you for coming by!
Sharing at these awesome parties!
