Pick The Perfect Drapes

Thank you to Barn & Willow, sponsor of today’s post. All opinions are 100% my own!

I am so excited to share the pretty new drapes in our family room! Do you call it the great room or family room? I grew up calling it the family room so I guess that’s kind of stuck with me. Little by little, I’m trying to create a more neutral color scheme for the house, painting the room was the first step.  I took down the red plaid drapes that have been there since we added the room 10 years ago. It was time for a change. I absolutely love the light and airy feel they give the room. I chose the Belgian Flax Linen in Oatmeal for our room.

Getting a swatch is so important, things look very different in person than on-line so when making that decision having a sample to put next to your rug or wall color is key to finding the perfect fabric. If you want to have some flexibility in the room then staying neutral on a big item is best then you can use your accent pieces to bring in the color. I had several of the samples taped to the wall and down near the rug so I could see what I liked best. *Use painters tape so you don’t take any paint off!

You’ll also need to decide how long you want them and where you’ll place the brackets.  I like mine right to the floor so I ordered the 108″ length. If you have a room with lower ceilings it’s great to hang them higher, above the windows to give the illusion of length.

Barn & Willow sent me so many lovely samples I could hardly pick one! They have an awesome free swatch program so you can get up to five samples sent to your home free of charge.  It’s so much easier to decide when you have the fabrics in front of you.

Want a totally custom look?  Barn & Willow can do that too! You can design and get an instant quote for your custom drapery. It’s step by step and easy to use, taking the hassle out of custom drapery.

If you have a hard time deciding what to get then the Try Before You Buy  program is for you! You can order a full-size sample panel and hang it in your home to help you to decide! You can mull it over for up to 7 days and return with no hassle with their pre-paid label. Once you place your order the $10 is credited to you!

The drapes are beautifully made in Europe. They are lined but aren’t heavy feeling. You can use a rod or hang them with clips. I’m thrilled with the way they look and the way they compliment the room. A little shout out to my sweet dad for helping me move and rehang the brackets! Love you daddy!

They look beautiful! I love the shorter rods vs going across the entire window. You have inspired me to do the same!

Thank you Pam! It makes it a lot more affordable if you have large windows and they aren’t as heavy!

These are really pretty! I love the soft linen look. The curtains I have are so pretty but it would be fun to lighten up for the spring/summer seasons. I’ll go check out the website.

So glad you shared this with us at Thoughts of Home on Thursday.

I have plantation shutters but it would be nice to ‘soften ‘ their edges with curtains. I love yours.
