Hi! One of the things I really loved about this place was the yard. It’s not huge but it doesn’t feel cramped either. There’s a lot of privacy for a village house and I love the patio area. It’s a bit worn but it looks a little better since I sealed it. It took a little elbow grease. I power washed it and then sealed it with a water-based sealer. It actually helped to make the area less slippery too so that was a bonus. I spend just about every morning here when the weather cooperates with my coffee and it has been our go-to spot for dinners, and working remotely.
All the furnishings were from the old house or from family. The only thing I bought new was the umbrella and the striped outdoor rug. Both are from Target but I am linking similar items from my favorites list on Amazon. I really wanted to stick with the black, white, tan colors and just added a bit of blue with a few pillows.
Ideas for making the most of your outdoor space. Have a place to eat! Whether it’s a table and chairs or a picnic table eating outdoors is the best. Grab an umbrella so you can use the table when it’s sunny. A couch of some sort for lounging and sunbathing, firepit for evening talks and smores. I love adding rugs to an outdoor space, it really helps to define each area. I have three rugs (two came over with my from the old house, pretty sure they were from Home Depot). I’ve got plants around the fence softening it a little and you can’t really see it I have a wind chime in the tree. Don’t forget the pillows! You can never have too many and of course a blanket or two never hurts for the cool evenings.
Ona had some friends over and we cooked dinner for them, such a lovely night with a sweet bunch of young women.
The runner on the picnic table is from Home Goods. Don’t mind the basketball net in the last photo, the boys could not resist putting it on my pretty patio! Link to my favorites here. *This is an affiliate link so if you buy something I earn a tiny commisison from Amazon. Thank you!
I shared a quick Reels on IG putting all my pillows out and Rocky managed to get in on that too! It’s cute if you have a minute to watch. If you don’t follow me on IG, please do, working on growing my audience there again since I took a bit of a hiatus!
See you soon, Susan xo
