I wanted to make some fun cupcakes for the kids to bring to share with their friends and since it’s so close to Valentine’s I added some homemade heart decorations to a few of them. I saw this cute video on FB from the 36th Avenue and thought I’d try them myself. I didn’t realize they were so many ideas for baking Oreos into things, just check out Pinterest to see what I mean!
When I bake cupcakes I usually use a mix, it’s just easier and quick. I added a handful of sprinkles to the mix to make my own funfetti mix!
Since I was using yellow cake I thought adding the birthday cake Oreos would work perfectly! Everyone went crazy for these cupcakes! Put about half the batter in the bottom of the cupcake holder, add your Oreo then top with the other half of batter and bake according to directions, 19-23 minutes. Let cool & frost!
I created hearts with my Cricut and glued them on toothpicks for a simple decoration! You can use the paper punches to do this too.
I will definitely be making these again and I’ve got ideas for all kinds of different versions mixing up the cookies and the cake mixes! I love that you can make an occasion a little more special with a few special touches!
Linking to these parties!
I will definitely give these a try when my grandsons come in from out of state.
Seriously, they will love them!
Genius – oreos are a staple in this house, why I’ve never tried baking with them before I don’t know. Thanks for sharing this at Happiness Is Homemade this week, great recipe!
Thanks Katie!
My guys would love the cookie surprise: Thanks for sharing on the Creative K Kids Linky Party this week. I hope you will join us again next week.
