Thank you to Tree Classics for sponsoring today’s post! I’m honored to be included in such a wonderful group of bloggers sharing their homes.
Christmas is all about faith and family for us. I love opening our home to family and friends.
My ideal Christmas is a beautiful day with a touch of snow and my children and husband happy and healthy. My family has been the center of my life for the last 17 years so just being with them is such a gift. My favorite days are spent with them. Celebrating the birth of Christ as a family and giving thanks for our many blessings is what it’s all about for me.
If this is the first time you are visiting Love of Home, welcome!
Our home is an 1890 farmhouse. One I admired growing up.
We usually host Christmas but we are taking this year off so I kept the decor pretty simple. The tree showcases all our special ornaments. I do love the trees in the lovely color palettes but I just can’t bring myself to not use the ornaments I’ve collected over the years, thus the very unmatched tree!
My Tree Classics tree is beautiful! Pre-lit makes it so simple and it goes together in three pieces. Genius they added wheels to the base! It looks so real. Just add a cotton ball with a few drops of Pine essential oil to the center of the tree and then you get the lovely smell without the mess!
These two rooms are the heart of our home. Everyone gathers in the kitchen and family room and it’s nice because I can be cooking and still be part of the action!
The little red chair peeking out has been with us since the kids were little. Every time I try to take it out of the room someone is looking for it, it’s a favorite spot. Instead of worrying about perfection I just embrace the face that it’s there and the kids love it and someday I’ll miss it! Real life happens here, after all.
This one of my favorite photos of my children so it gets moved around so it’s front and center most of the year. I added it to the little shelf in my kitchen with a few greens and my sweet hello sign. The wreath adds a little sparkle to the kitchen.
I shared some easy ideas for entertaining and on Wednesday it’s our Christmas edition of 10-Minute Decorating so be sure to stop by!
Thank you so much for coming and Merry Christmas!

Your home is beautiful, Susan! I enjoyed your tour so much. I hope you and your family have a blessed holiday! Merry Christmas, my friend!
Thank you sweet friend!! Same to you!
I love your non-themed, non-color coordinated tree. That’s what we do too. I think people get to hung up on having a “theme” for their Christmas tree. I like the old-fashioned look of a tree that has been decorated with things collected over the years. When I pull out my ornaments, I think about where/how/from who I got it and I get a trip down memory lane while a trim the tree. That’s what makes Christmas special to me. Hope you and your family have a Very Merry Christmas.
Thank you Shannon, I totally feel the same way! Merry Christmas!
Susan, thank you for joining us on the House Walk, your home is always so gorgeous, warm and inviting. I am in love with your farmhouse!! Merry Christmas my friend!
