We love a good breakfast around here, enter the easy dutch baby recipe!
I had Food Network on and I saw VB make a dutch baby. They serve these at our local Pancake House and they look divine!
I tried one a long time ago and I remember it being greasy.
I looked up the recipe and thought I’d give it another whirl. No special ingredients you just need a cast iron pan.
I did not make the fancy topping she made. I went for simple fresh strawberries, powdered sugar and syrup.
The great thing is, it’s a blank canvas so to speak so you can really top it with anything you like.
Here is the recipe for the batter for the Dutch Baby.
3 eggs
3/4 cup whole milk
3/4 flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 TBSP of butter cut into a few pieces
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Put cast iron pan into the oven for 10 minutes to get hot. Whisk eggs until frothy, add milk, flour, salt, vanilla and mix until combined. Carefully take cast iron pan out of the oven and swirl the butter around the pan until melted. Pour batter into pan and return to oven for about 16-18 minutes until golden brown. My oven cooks hot so mine was done at 16 minutes.
Add toppings and enjoy!
This was SO simple and looks fancy! It was quite delicious too!!

Until next time,

I’ve made this before and warmed up homemade apple pie filling and put it on top…so yummy!!
Sounds wonderful!!
I love Dutch Babies. I first discovered the recipe in Sunset Magazine in the late 70s or early 80s and have made them ever since. As a matter of fact when I was teaching they were a popular lab with my students. I’m so glad they are becoming popular again.
How fun! Thanks for visiting!
