I love all the pretty blanket ladders you see around the web. I wanted to make one for our family room and keep it super simple. My favorite projects are functional, easy and quick. Oh, and did I mention budget friendly? I spent about $25 for supplies. I knew I wanted the rungs to be rounded instead of using flat boards so I came up with a super easy method of putting it together. This might be out there somewhere, the ones I referenced were more involved. I kept mine super simple with a short supply list which equals low cost! This project is practical and functional to help you organize your blankets, keeps them neat and looks pretty!
2 – 6′ 1″ x4″
3/4″ dowel enough for 4 – 18″ pieces, I purchased two that were 44″ each.
Stain or paint
Drill with a 3/4″ paddle drill bit.
I used the 2- 6′ pieces as they were. Cut the dowel into 4- 18″ pieces. Mark your ladder rungs on one of the 1″ x 4″. I spaced them every 14″ apart and marked the center. This is where you’ll drill the holes for the dowels. Lay the two 6′ pieces on top of each other and make sure they are lined up. Drill all the way through both boards on all four markings.
Push dowels through holes and you’re done!
Stain, paint or use raw. I used Minwax Expresso Gloss stain. I sanded after the stain was dry to soften the edges and distress a bit.
