I have a few chalkboards that started as picture frames and I love writing little messages or the menu on them. This one is usually out on the back porch but I thought I’d bring it inside for my Spring living room. I’ll be sharing our living room and dining rooms next Friday for our Farmhouse Fridays so be sure to come back! If you missed last month you can see it here.
The method for making this is just like my Autumn sign in this post here. Except you use chalk on the back of the image instead of pencil.
I found the cute laurel wreath printout over at Diane’s.
Cover the back of the image with chalk.
Tape down the image and trace with a pencil going over well.
Life off to reveal faint design (mine would have shown up better had the chalkboard been freshly painted but this is a used one).
Trace design with chalk. I used a chalk pencil and I LOVED it. I probably won’t ever use regular chalk again. You can find the chalk here. *affiliate link
For now it’s at home on the chest in our living room. One of these days I’m going to give it a fresh coat of chalk paint!
ps. That’s me in the photo, 17 years ago! Don’t forget our link party tomorrow at 8pm. Last week was our biggest week ever over 350 entries!! So link up your projects or come browse all the lovely link ups! Have a beautiful weekend!
What did we ever do without chalkboards? I love them in every shape and size! Really like the pretty blue frame and artwork on yours.
Thanks! I need to repaint it lol!
This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Great idea! I have an old picture frame I just turned into a chalkboard that I will decorate for Easter with this idea.
