You can make your own DIY tablecloth in no time at all! I’ve had this sweet vintage fabric for such a long time. It matches the back porch table and chairs so nicely. I decided to make a tablecloth with it. This is super easy to do! Decide how long you want the tablecloth to be and purchase enough for that times 2. My fabric was 36″ wide so you might want to keep the width of the fabric in mind as well. If the fabric is 54″ wide it may hang down too far.
Cut two pieces to desired length with about an inch or so for the hem on the two ends. Sew the two pieces together, right sides together and the finished edge (selvedge) on the outside to save you hemming. If you have an edge that can’t show you’ll have to hem those sides as well.
Once the pieces are sewn together. Fold the sides in twice and iron. This makes it really easy to sew down the edge. Sew the top side of the fabric and you’re done! If your selvedge edge is unfinished or has the white border, fold over the same way and hem like you did for the sides. If you find an inexpensive fabric this is a great way to make a custom tablecloth. Let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy the day!
