Welcome! I’m thrilled to be part of this talented group of bloggers. I’ve been sharing so many Fall ideas this last week. I hope you will stay awhile and look around. You can subscribe to Love of Home on the right sidebar. Today I have our side porch and living room to share with you.
*A little background for new visitors. We live in an 1890 farmhouse that I adored since my childhood. It’s been our home for nearly 17 years and it continues to evolve! I hope you enjoy seeing a part of it.
Our side entry is where all the action takes place. It leads to our mudroom this is where we come and go so I really like to make it pretty! I loved the purple mums this year. I was so happy to get them at Wegmans and they were super affordable! I spent just $16 for all three. I’m not a huge fan of the containers they come in so I put the two smaller ones in a vintage toolbox that I had and the large one in vintage metal bucket I bought at the flea market.
The black bench is a great spot to sit and watch the kids outside or read a book. It’s gotten lots of use over the years. That too was an estate sale find. I changed out the pillows and added a blanket. I borrowed my daughter’s Hunters (shhh, don’t tell her!).
The lantern I’ve had for a few years, it gets moved around a lot!
Now we’re off to the living room. A few years back we purchased a sofa from Pottery Barn it’s the more affordable slipcovered one, I think it’s the basic. I LOVE the white slipcovers. It allows me to change the entire room because it’s neutral. Most people thought I was nutty for buying a white sofa, but I still love it years later. The kids are allowed in the living room, we use the whole house!
The room is truly a mix of old and new. A chair from my grandmother than I had reupholstered, some PB pieces, the coffee table was from my husband’s house and the little table between the two white chairs is from an estate sale.
I made new pillows for the two white slipper chairs. The wreath is made from old french dictionary pages.
The cabinet gets changed for the seasons. I made my 30-second topiary to add to it. The pumpkins are from the cute farmer’s stand around the corner from our home.
